Metin ERÖZÜ (1935-2011)
Metin A. Erozu was born in Ankara on the third of October in 1935. He completed his primary and secondary school education in Ankara. 1953 began his studies at Istanbul Technical University’s faculty of Architecture. He attended design classes by professors such as Paul Bonatz, Mukbil Gokdogan, Kemali Soylemezoglu, Kemal AhmetAru, Emin Onat and Rolf Gutbrot. His graduation project was successfully completed in the year 1959.
In the same year he got an invitation from the Architekturburo Schlegtendal in Germany, later in an architectural office in Nurnberg, where he had an internship during his studies.Meanwhile he worked as a design architect. At that time he took part on the architectural competitions as well as several large scale projects.
In 1961 he worked for another Architekturburo Harald Loebermann in Nurnberg, where he worked as a design architect until 1966.During two-year military service at the building authority of western Turkey, he was involved in direction of restoration and extension work at several historical barracks.
After completing studies and designs made 1969 in Antalya for both holiday village (about 1000 beds) and hotel “Tayla” (300 beds) in behalf of Turk Alman Turizm A.S., he moved back to Nurnberg. In 1970 M. Erozu finished work on application and details project. Since 1970 he has been working as an independent architect. Numerous contributions in architectural competitions in Turkey and abroad have been awarded.
Besides these works, there are other works to be mentioned as: Hotel Tayla which had been set into operation in 1974 and had been redesignedand expanded by 50% in 1988, Haliser carpet factory in Bozoyuk (put in operation in 1979), Alkent Bahge Sehir in Etileri / Istanbul, the market andmulti-storey car park projected in behalf of Milli Reasurans and opened in 1988 in Ni§anta§i, as well as Borusan Import Center started in1991 arepublished in several architectural periodicals.
Metin Erozu is married, has two children.He is fluent in German.
